More than 60 years later Michael Sexton has dug into history to reconstruct and re-examine the revered team and its mythic victory.
 
Drawing on interviews, reports of the time and the archives of the SANFL History Centre, the question was asked how far back do you go to find the beginning? That the 1963 actually began in the mid 1950s at a time of disappointment and failure and was built by the passion of Fos Williams and his players such as Shearman, Kerley, Lindner, Wedding, Halbert, Cahill, Eustice and Head.
