This collection of stories has been gathered over decades of working as a journalist. The theme is humanity as displayed through sports and feature people and things I have seen, heard and read about.

The front cover is a teenaged Neil Kerley proudly photographed with the Koolymilka Football Club he coached to a premiership in the deserts of Woomera in the 1950s. His story is here along with others such as Neil Davies, Doug Nicholls, Peter Darley, Graham Cornes, John Wynne and Gilbert McAdam.

There are vicarious meetings with George Best, Muhammad Ali, Lance Armstrong, Don Bradman,Lionel Tennyson, Jean Borotra, Ken Farmer and Ian Chappell. Other stories emerged after brushes with Stefanos Tsitsipas, Kumar Sangakkara, Grenville Dietrich, Bhagwat Chandrasekhar, Barry Phillips-Moore, Willie Rioli, Archie Roach and David Hookes.

The stories are dedicated to my grandfathers who liked words and stories and for fellow travellers to enjoy.
